February at LRY: FIGHT

Now is not the time to sit back and wait for things to change. We need each one of us to stand up for due process and human rights, to speak truth to power, and to organize in non-violent ways so that we can protect the most vulnerable members of our community.

I encourage you to consider how you will support your community. Will it be providing groceries for those too afraid to leave their homes? Can you care for someone who is afraid or offer rides or a safe space for people to shelter? Are you able to stand in the streets in order to hold ICE accountable? Maybe you can afford to donate money to a cause, volunteer to help feed the hungry, or work to ensure people's voter rights in the next election. The civil rights movement in this country was successful because people kept showing up, speaking the truth, and refusing to accept the normalization of violence and intimidation.

We have compiled a list of resources and ways to help HERE.

At the same time, it is also important to take time to recharge and rest. This includes yoga, meditation, self-care, and social connection. You are not alone and we cannot do this alone. We need each other. We also need the nourishment of our practices to help us stay strong in body and mind. To rest after a hard fight. Laughing River will be here for you through it all as we also volunteer, support organizations that are doing good work and participate in caring for our community members.

in solidarity,

emily and LRY

The experience of Wheelie Life is steady and demanding. Balance changes with every second. Terrain interferes just enough to test skill. Large corrections feel risky. Smooth control feels rewarding. Improvement comes naturally.
