Widening the Circle of Compassion: The Power of Loving-Kindness Meditation
Loving-kindness is compassionate awareness that opens our attention & makes it more inclusive. Spending time paying careful attention to our thoughts, feelings & actions, positive & negative & understanding them opens our hearts to loving ourselves genuinely for who we are, with all our imperfections & that’s the gateway to loving others. -Sharon Salzberg
Our task must be to free ourselves...by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. -Albert Einstein
Come spend the afternoon engaging in the profound heart-opening practice of loving-kindness meditation. This practice is known as the antidote to anxiety and isolation. Beginning with tapping into our innate capacity to love, we will practice extending love to ourselves, and then we expanding our loving wishes to people who are dear to us, to neutral people, to difficult people, and ultimately, to all beings. The half-day retreat experience will include meditation instruction, guided and silent periods of sitting and walking meditation, and group discussion.
This half-day meditation retreat will be held in-person at the Chace Mill.
