A Heart as Wide as the World:
Cultivating
Compassion in Difficult Times
In a time when the stress of the world can feel overwhelming—marked by anxiety, division, uncertainty, and despair—many of us long for ways to steady the heart and respond with wisdom rather than fear. A Heart as Wide as the World: Cultivating Compassion in Difficult Times is an afternoon retreat devoted to practices that help us do just that.
Through mindfulness, lovingkindness (metta), and compassion meditation, we will explore teachings that the Buddha offered as powerful antidotes to fear and reactivity. These practices invite us to soften the heart, reconnect with our shared humanity, and cultivate a compassion spacious enough to hold both our own suffering and the suffering of others.
Together we will nurture the inner qualities that can sustain us personally while also contributing to a more compassionate and resilient world.
