Katonah Yoga: The Magic of Poles
Up your yoga prop tool bag with poles! Led by Lauren Godes and Kate Floyd, this workshop will be an opportunity to learn how to use poles as props in the yoga asana practice.
Poles set up a frame for the lungs. As you lift the pole, you manipulate the structure, opening and closing your personal windows, your lungs. When the lungs open and fill to their full capacity, you ventilate better, get a better view, have a greater ability to hold feelings and experience joy, contributing to your overall well being.
Poles also mimic our implicit plum line or sutra atman. We can use this as a reference to organize ourselves in time and space. The pole is linear but when we put ourselves in the center, moving the pole in all directions, we become the center of our sphere, creating a matrix of center and circumference. This allows us to access our sphere of influence, to evolve, revolve and eventually have a revelation. All levels of experience are welcome.

This workshop will be held in-person at the Chace Mill and online via ZOOM! The use of poles is essential to get the most out of this workshop. If you are taking the workshop from home, you can find 6ft rounded poles at most hardware stores, or purchase this example online here.
If you are practicing from home, make sure to clear space so you have room to practice.
