Love Your Hips: An Exploration of Myofascial Release and Yoga
So many of us hold tension in our hip joints and gluteal muscles! Whether we're athletes or office workers (or both) the demands of modern life can create strain and/or pain in the part of the body that is our center of gravity and the home base for our core strength: our pelvis.
Chronic holding patterns in our pelvis can restrict major movements and our ability to feel emotionally grounded. In this 2-hr workshop you'll enjoy a deep practice that gently relieves tightness and strengthens areas of weakness in the hips, pelvis, and glutes. You'll explore the dual qualities of "surrender" and "stability" in this anatomical area, i.e., noticing when/how to release and let go, and when/how to hug in and firm up. You'll be encouraged to observe yourself with curiosity and self-compassion while trying a mixture of yoga postures, breathing techniques and self-massage/myofascial release techniques.
The workshop fee includes 2 racquet balls to take home. Every participant will leave with self-massage and yoga techniques that can form a delicious self-care routine at home. Your instructor, a massage therapist and yoga teacher, will use her combined areas of expertise to provide options and variations that are appropriate for all body types and all ability levels.

This workshop will be held in-person at the Chace Mill.
