Intro to Sunray Meditation

with Reverend Meli

Reverend Meli of the Sunray Meditation Society will be joining us at the Surf Club for an introduction to the Sunray Basic Meditation practice to generate light, love and peace, to share and teach songs from the Powwow tradition, and to illuminate the Sunray Story. This special, one-time offering will happen in place of Miv London's meditation class, immediately following Emily Garrett's Kripalu class.

The mission of the Sunray Meditation Society is to preserve and share the teachings of the Peacemaker from the Tsalagi (Cherokee) spiritual traditions and the teachings of peacemaking from Tibetan Buddhism.

Reverend Meli (aka Mary Kitchens), through her father, is part of the Western Cherokee diaspora that journeyed to California during the dust bowl of the 1930’s. She is the drumkeeper for Unole, a drum group that has been nominated for a Native American Music Award. Living most of the year in Northern California, she comes to reside at the Peace Village in Lincoln, Vermont in the summers to emcee the annual Elders Gathering there. Rev. Meli is a Sunray minister in the Ywahoo tradition.
