Intro to Ayurveda
What is Āyurveda and how can you practically apply it to your life?
Āyurveda is the 5000 year old system of medicine from India. Said to be the oldest continuously practiced system of medicine in the world, Āyurveda is often translated as “the science of life”. At its root, Āyurveda enables us to understand the truth of who we are. Think of it as the owner’s manual to the physical, mental, and emotional body.
In this 3-hour workshop you will learn about the three doshas, vāta, pitta, and kapha, including their elemental composition, qualities, seasonal effects, and physical/mental attributes. We will discuss how to spot when one of the doshas has gone out of balance and ways to bring back equilibrium through diet and lifestyle practices. You will learn how to live in harmony with nature by aligning with the daily and seasonal clock.
Plan to leave this workshop with an understanding of:
The attributes and qualities of each dosha
Your unique constitution (Prakriti)
How temporal changes may affect you
Ways to mitigate imbalances and detect them before they fully manifest
Seasonal dietary, lifestyle, yoga, and pranayama practices.
This workshop is freely offered to those currently enrolled in the 200hr YTT Program at Laughing River.
