As we move through winter and further into isolation due to the confines of covid, many of us will experience an increase in seasonal affective disorder and depression. Yoga theory explains depression as a lack in prana vayu, the wind of energy that moves toward the heart. Backbends are a wonderful way to both increase prana vayu and uplift your mood. In this four week series, we will break backbends down into their various parts, open and strengthen the body in ways that facilitate ease in backbending, and as a result, increase feelings of joy and connectedness.
